Dermal Fillers

The Bad News...

We begin losing about 1% of the collagen in our skin every year starting in our 20’s, and as we age, our deep fat pads and facial bones get smaller, and our superficial fat pads start to fall.

(Thanks, Gravity!)

The combination of these mean the loss of that plump volume in our faces that we associate with youth.

The Good News!

Dermal fillers can replace the soft tissue volume we’ve lost over time, improving sunkenness, eliminating wrinkles, hydrating and plumping lips, improving the integrity of the skin, and softening creases and folds!

Types of Fillers

Hyaluronic acid:

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies.  There is a wide variety of hyaluronic acid fillers, each with its own unique properties (eg. lifting, volumizing, firmer, more malleable, etc).  We choose the appropriate filler based on the anatomical location we are trying to correct.

Radiesse:

Radiesse is made up of 30% calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) and 70% gel carrier.  The CaHa microspheres naturally degrade into calcium and phosphate ions, which are naturally metabolized by the body.  Radiesse is unique in that it serves two purposes: it is a filler that replaces lost volume, but it is also a BIOSTIMULATOR.  Radiesse stimulates up to 30% more collagen, promotes the development of elastin, increases blood supply, and stimulates cell turnover.

An in person consultation is required prior to scheduling any dermal filler appointment.
