BOTOX
This is a quick procedure, which takes only about 20 to 30 minutes – plenty of time to do on your lunch break!
Most patients describe the injections as a quick pinch. The needles are super tiny, similar in size to the needles diabetics use for insulin. No additional numbing cream is required, but being that anesthesia is my background, I do have some other tricks up my sleeve to make it more comfortable for you.
Patients may have bumps that resemble tiny insect bites immediately following the injection(s). Don’t worry-- They subside in 20-30 mins.
You may start to see and feel changes within the first 2 to 5 days, but it takes 2 weeks for everything to fully settle. As a new patient, we will schedule a 2 week follow up to make any necessary dose adjustments.
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t just suddenly regain all your movement. Your best results will be between Week 2 and 8 (plan events accordingly!) and then your muscles will gradually start to regain strength. With appropriate dosing, the results should last 3 to 4 months, and we recommend regular treatment every 3 to 4 months to maintain results.
No! “Baby Botox” is simply inadequate dosing. It may look wonderful initially, but the results will not last more than 6 to 8 weeks. When it comes to neurotoxins, DOSE = DURATION, so if you want it to last, you need appropriate dosing.
Charging by area makes pricing predictable, regardless of number of units. This allows us as the medical providers to decide how many units each person needs based on their individual anatomy. The muscles all work together and omitting units simply because of cost can really change the end result. Pablo Picasso was a genius at exaggerating the facial features of his subjects. Call us crazy, but that’s not the look we’re going for! At the end of the day, you’re here for the best results.
Everyone’s anatomy and muscle strength is different. In general, men will require more than women. FDA dosing for the upper face muscles (11 lines, forehead, crows feet) is 64 units. Some need a little more and some need a little less. We will assess your skin and movement patterns and come up with a dosage that’s perfect for you.
No! With regular treatments every 3 to 4 months, over time those muscles that make your skin crease will not be as strong AND you train yourself to not make those frowning/furrowing expressions as much, resulting in smoother skin.
The most common risks are bruising, headache, and mild swelling. The biggest unwanted outcomes are droopy eyelids or eyebrows (ptosis), or uneven smile. We do our best to avoid these undesirable effects, but there is always a risk of them happening, even to the most experienced injectors.
Sorry, mama. It is not recommended to receive neurotoxin treatment while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Enjoy that natural pregnancy glow, and we’ll see you back when you’re ready!
VI PEELS
Application of the peel takes about 20 minutes.
During application of the peel, it can feel a little spicy. We’ll give you a fan to cool you down while we apply it, and once it’s on it may feel warm or tingly. The peeling itself is completely painless.
Everyone peels at different rates, but typically you’ll start to peel on Day 3, the most peeling occurs on Day 4, and the remaining last bits peel Day 5 to 6. Most patients are enjoying their brand new dewy skin by Day 7, but some require a few more days. We recommend allotting 10-14 days before any events.
NO NO NO. It’s super tempting (trust me, I know), but do not “help” your skin along by picking or peeling. This can cause scarring and more hyperpigmentation if you pull off skin that isn’t ready yet. You may use clean scissors and trim off the skin that has already peeled.
Yes! VI Peels are suitable for all skin types, Fitzpatrick I-VI.
You may not work out, go in steam rooms/saunas, or do anything that will make you hot/sweat for at least the first 48 hours after application of the peel.
For best results, we recommend a series of 3 peels spaced 4-6 weeks apart and then once a season or as needed.
VI peels cannot be used on anyone with an aspirin allergy due to the salicylic acid that is in the formula. It is also not recommended for patients with vitiligo.
Unfortunately, no. It is not recommended for pregnant or nursing mamas, but when you’re ready, VI peel works wonders on that pregnancy induced melasma!
Absolutely! This peel can be done year round. You just need to be extra vigilant about sun exposure – a wide brimmed hat and physical mineral sunscreen minimum SPF 30 are an absolute must.
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) + PLATELET RICH FIBRIN (PRF)
Yes! It’s utilizing your body’s own healing powers, and since it’s your own blood, there’s nothing to have a reaction to.
Some patients notice results from tear trough injections within a few days. Truthfully, you may not see any difference at all after the first treatment. Most people really see an improvement in their dark circles and the texture of the skin after the second treatment, and then the third is the cherry on top.
Because results are dependent on the integrity of your platelets, everyone’s results are different. Some begin to see fine hairs growing in and existing hair thickening after just 1 treatment, but begin noticing a difference after 3 months. This is definitely not a quick fix and is an exercise in patience and trusting the process.
Most patients notice a glow in 1 to 2 weeks, and an improvement in skin texture in about a month.
This is the perfect treatment to do 1 week before an event, and effects may last up to 4 weeks.
For tear trough injections, bruising is likely to happen and it can take up to 2 weeks to go away. We recommend taking arnica and using a bruise gel. You may be swollen for a few days.
For hair treatments, your scalp may be a little sore, but otherwise there isn’t a reason you can’t go back to your regular activities normally.
For collagen induction therapy, your skin will be a little flushed, as if you got a little too much sun. The PRP applied onto your skin will feel taut. We encourage you to keep it on as long as possible (at least overnight) before washing it off. By the next day, your skin may look a little pink and feel a little toasty, but you’re free to resume using your medical grade skincare products and makeup.
For the Signature Dewy Glow, your skin may be flushed up to the following day.
DERMAL FILLERS
No! Here at Dewy, we have a strict “the best injectable is undetectable” policy. The goal is always for you to look like the best version of yourself.
We never want to send you out in the world looking puffy or overdone, and we have no problem telling you when we think you’ve had enough. No duck lips or chipmunk cheeks here!
Results are apparent immediately, but it takes 2-3 weeks for the product to settle in. Expect some bruising/swelling in the first week, so plan events and any travel outside the area for at least 2 weeks out. The benefits of Radiesse, including improved skin quality and volume repletion, continue to improve over several months!
Yes! You may not have any dental work, including regular cleanings, within 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your appointment. Dental work could cause an infection in the vicinity of your filler injections. Fillers are considered implants, and we take every precaution to minimize your risk of infection.
